| In introducing the Saturday Night Special on the "Vaughn
Monroe Show" for the week of June 21, 1947, Vaughn states, "Our Saturday
Night Special for the shortest night of the year (it was the first night of
summer) also happens to be the first song I ever sang into a microphone. It
happened at Station KDKA back in 1931, when I was a sprout about Carnegie
