This is a very worthwhile CD to have in your collection for it presents a large collection of songs not found on other "best of" CD's. As stated on the cover insert, "it was decided to eschew the inclusion of the singer's very well known hits (they've been presented on other CD's) and instead...present a number of the very fine recordings which, in spite of their excellence, never made it onto the hit parade. And when the listener gives ear to them, there will be proof enough of the worth of them all."
Especially wonderful to hear are the two Rogers and Hart numbers that have Vaughn paired with the lovely soprano voice of Patrice Munsel who was a Metropolitan Opera star.
The cover insert contains a synopsis of Vaughn Monroe's career as an instrumentalist, singer and bandleader in addition to commentary on the selections included on this CD. Many portrait photographs are integrated throughout.
